Eurovox 2018 in The Hague

Eurovox 2018, a European congress for voice teachers and voice professionals organised by the NVZ, the Dutch Voice Teachers Association and the EVTA, the European Voice Teachers Association took place at August 30 – September 1, 2018. The congress took place at the Royal Conservatoire in the beautiful city of The Hague, one of the most extraordinary cities in the Netherlands.

The programme included lectures, workshops, and paper presentations by renowned voice teachers and other professionals who work with voices.

All the events of the congress focused on the theme VOCAL FUSION and investigated cooperation in the broadest sense of the word, that is, singers as members of a choir, in musical theatre and opera, working with a director, the specific skills necessary for working with a pianist or band, with a conductor, with a teacher, with a sound engineer… The central question was: what does this mean for a singer’s education and how can voice teachers and other (voice) professionals incorporate this in their teaching?

In collaboration with the Eurovox Congress EVTA organised a Young Professionals Programme (YPP) which is designed to enable young artists to participate in European conferences. 10 Singers and one researcher took part in the program.

Eurovox 2018 had over 400 attendees and speakers from 25 countries as far as USA, South Africa and Australia, 54 lectures, masterclasses and workshops all around the central theme of Vocal Fusion, 32 volunteers, 11 talented Young Professionals that sang in the masterclasses and the closing concert, 187 persons who joined the barbecue at the beach and saw the sun set in the sea, 272 users of the congress app, 632 messages sent via the app, 291 business cards exchanged via the app. Eurovox 2018 was sold out and a great success!

We thank all speakers, YPP participants, volunteers, host families and our sponsors for making Eurovox 2018 a successful event.
