Nadja Räss receives the «Goldener Violinschlüssel 2025»
The highest folk music honour is awarded to her by the «Goldener Violinschlüssel» association of the same name for her multifaceted work. The renowned musician has been a professor of yodelling at the Lucerne School of Music since 2018 and is responsible for folk music.
Nadja Räss came into contact with natural yodelling in Appenzell as a child. Singing was omnipresent in her parents’ home in the canton of Schwyz. She studied classical singing at the Zurich University of the Arts and successfully completed her studies in 2005 with a Master’s degree in pedagogy. She is passionate about passing on her knowledge in lessons, including at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music. She is just as passionate about bringing new and traditional forms of Swiss yodelling to the stage together with musicians such as Rita Gabriel Schaub, Markus Flückiger, Willi Valotti and the Alderbuebe formation. In projects with performers from other cultures, she enriches her artistic work and expands her voice with tonal facets. Nadja Räss can also be found as a soloist in various projects, including the cantata “Dorothea” and with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra.
