Sanne Wallis de Vries (Amsterdam, 1971) is a Dutch comedian since 1996, when she won both the jury and the audience award for best act during the Cabaret Festival of Leiden. In the years running up to the festival, she had been studying at the theatre school of Selma Susanna, who would later become the director of Sanne’s solo shows. In 1995 Sanne had entered Comedytrain, a group of professional dutch standup comedians.
From 1997 up until now Sanne has written and performed 6 one woman shows, each of which she performed in dutch theatres for two seasons. In between she performed in musical, television and film productions. She is well known for her satirical imitation of Princess Beatrix, the former dutch Queen. Among children she is best known for her role as “Dreus”, a neurotic head of a school in the four famous “Mister Twister” sequels (film), in the Netherlands known as “Mees Kees”. Sanne has played the role of Mrs Lovett in Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” at the Nederlandse Reisopera in 2014.
