Jazz singer highly appreciated in Europe, Daniela Panetta has been active in both the concert and teaching fields for more than 30 years. She has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians in ensembles ranging from duos to big bands and symphony orchestras. Among her best-known formations we remember the “Vocaland” quintet, the “Ampio Respiro” duo with Maestro Alessandro Cerino and the “Le Pause del Silenzio” Vocal Quintet directed by Maestro Giorgio Gaslini. She participates in numerous Jazz Festivals in Italy and abroad, including: Umbria Jazz, Novara Jazz Festival, Brussels Jazz Fest, Tunis Jazz, Falaut – International Flute Festival, Ramatuelle Fest, S. Remo Blues, Verona Jazz and performs in well-known theaters including: Rex (Paris), Philarmonie (Berlin), Smeraldo (MI), Teatro Romano (VR), Regio (TO), Sistina (RO), Ariston (Sanremo)… She has participated in television and radio broadcasts , as well as theatrical performances of which she also signs some compositions. There are several reviews of her concerts and recordings of which the critics underline the expressive qualities of a rarefied vocality that goes beyond jazz canons. In fact, she recorded two CDs with Paolo Conte, following him on the international Ratzmataz tour. She has 10 jazz CDs under her belt (4 of which are under her own name) and another 6 as a performer. She has deepened her studies of the jazz language with giants of world jazz such as Michèle Hendricks (with whom she was a co-teacher in improvisation courses for 12 years), Sheila Jordan, Bob Stoloff, Jay Clayton, Roberta Gambarini, Marc Murphy, Rhiannon, Joe Blake, David Worm. Over the years, she has been interested in medical disciplines such as phoniatrics and speech therapy, following courses at the Nuova Artec in Milan under the guidance of Dr. Magnani, until specializing in the Higher Education course in Artistic Vocology, Cdl in Speech Therapy at the University of Bologna based in Ravenna under the guidance of Prof. Franco Fussi and thus also began its educational and scientific research activity. Present as a speaker at conferences on the artistic voice and singing teaching, over the years she has become a point of reference for many Italian singing students and teachers. From 1992 to today she has been present in numerous civic and private schools in Lombardy and holds the chair of Jazz Singing. Currently teacher of vocal technique and improvisation at MAM (Musical Academy Milan) and teacher of modern singing and vocal ensemble at Musica in Lemine (BG). Over the years she has dedicated herself to teacher training: National AIGAM Teacher Trainer, Creator and Teacher of the National Singing Teacher Training Course “LE 150 ORE”, Teacher at the Advanced Training Course in Artistic Vocology for the University of Bologna. Currently member of the board of directors and responsible for international relations of AICI (Italian Association of Singing Teachers). She holds seminars throughout the country, ranging from Vocal Technique, Techniques applied to movement, Improvisation and style of Modern and Jazz singing. In 2016 she published the book “The Secrets of the Voice – Jazz Singing and Lyric Singing in Comparison” for Aracne Editrice and in 2021 the book “Sete di Voce – Small sips to attenuate it”, taken from the online column of the same name
Giuseppina Cortesi
Born in Bergamo, she followed her musical studies at the “Gaetano Donizetti” Musical Institute of her city, graduating in Viola, in Artistic Singing and obtaining the Level II Academic Diploma for the interpretive singing school, with top marks . She specialized with Piermiranda Ferraro, Seta Del Grande and Guglielmo Gazzani; participated in Masterclasses with Fedora Barbieri. She attended the Verdiana Academy of Busseto, taught by Carlo Bergonzi. She was the winner in 1990 of the “Mattia Battistini” National Competition in Rieti. She made her debut in the role of Violetta Valery in “La Traviata” by G. Verdi at the Teatro Flavio Vespasiano in Rieti directed by Franca Valeri. She has collaborated in theatrical productions with conductors such as: Nikša Bareza, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Maurizio Arena, Marco Balderi, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Bruno Campanella. She attended the Higher Education Course in Artistic Vocology at the University of Bologna, carrying out the thesis: “Terminology and tradition in the teaching of opera singing”. The work obtained a Commendation and publication in the VI volume “The singer’s voice” Edizioni Omega, edited by Franco Fussi. She obtained the Master’s Degree for Music Operators for Children’s and Youth Orchestras at the University of Florence, Department of Educational Sciences and Psychology with full marks and honours. She is a certified trainer of the “La Voce Liberata” method by Iva Barthélémy with whom she became a close collaborator until she conceived and became a founding member of the Italian Association dedicated to her and trainer of the method; Translates and revises the Italian edition of his book “Liberare la Voce: artistic and scientific pedagogical foundations” of the “La voix levrèe” method – Edizioni Volonté. She followed the Advanced Training Course in Expert in the elastic proprioceptive method (PROEL) for the treatment of voice disorders – Menendez Pelayo International University. She studied the physiology of singing at the “Nuova Artec” Phoniatric Center in Milan. She participated in various refresher courses on the Teaching and Physiology of Singing, in Teramo at the Braga Institute, in Ravenna at “La Voce Artistica”, in Palermo at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory, in Modena at the Bibiena theatre, in Lucca at Lucca in Voice, in Milan at Posturalmed. She is a speaker at many conferences on the artistic voice throughout Italy. She was a teacher at the G. Donizzaetti Conservatory of Bergamo and currently at the F. Vittadini Conservatory of Pavia. In 1996 she founded the Centro Musica in Lemine operating in the Bergamo area of which she is still director. In 2016 the book was published: The secrets of the voice – Jazz singing and Opera singing compared, the result of an in-depth study of comparison between the two styles with the co-author Daniela Panetta. The book has scientific inserts edited by Franco Fussi (Aracne editions).
