David Sisco
About David Sisco
David Sisco (he/him) is an adjunct voice faculty member at NYU Steinhardt in New York City. Over the past 25 years, he has taught at Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Marymount Manhattan College, and Wagner College. David maintains a private studio and teaches both nationally and internationally.
David has presented at numerous conferences, including ANATS, ICVT, MTEA, NATS, and The Voice Foundation over the last decade. He co-authored Mastering College Musical Theatre Auditions (3rd edition) and Performing in Contemporary Musicals (Routledge Press) with Laura Josepher. His newest book, Wholehearted Voice Pedagogy, was released by Routledge Press in July 2025. On his Wholehearted Voice Pedagogy podcast, David explores key concepts outlined in the book with the help of esteemed voice pedagogues and education specialists.
David is also an award-winning composer whose works have been performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. A recipient of the 2010 NATS Composition Award, his songs have been featured in concerts presented by Friends & Enemies of New Music, Joy in Singing, Lyric Fest, and SongFest. He has received commissions from Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, Florida International University Concert Choir, Manhattan Girls Chorus, Minnesota State University Moorhead Concert Choir, and TRANScend Vocal Ensemble. His new album, Infrastructure: The Songs of David Sisco, will be released on the Métier Label in June 2026.
David is an alumnus of the esteemed BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and the New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio. His theatrical works include BAIT n’ SWISH, Falling to Earth, Variations on a Theme of You, and the forthcoming musical Great Company, with librettist Lynn Rosen.
