About Izabela Jeżowska
Concert mezzo-soprano and graduate of the Vocal and Acting Department at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where she studied under Prof. Eugeniusz Sąsiadek. She was a recipient of an Italian Government scholarship and participated in masterclasses with Shirley Verrett, Fedora Barbieri, and Mirella Freni.
Currently, she is a Full Professor at the Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków (Wrocław branch), teaching vocal technique and voice placement. She is actively engaged in research in vocal pedagogy and plays a leading role in academic and organizational work. She served for many years as Secretary and Board Member of the Polish Association of Voice Teachers, editor of its scientific journals, and Artistic Director of the Sudeten Music Festivals in Szczawno-Zdrój. She is the author of numerous publications and conference papers presented internationally (Ljubljana, Prague, Salzburg, Riga, Florence, Milan, Stockholm, The Hague, Tallinn) and teaches diction and voice training at the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Practical Rhetoric Course.
Izabela Jeżowska developed an innovative method of voice release through movement, incorporating elements of aerial yoga into voice placement training. She conducts her own voice-movement workshops in Poland and worldwide and is a regular guest at the International Theatre Festival FITS in Sibiu, Romania.
She is the author of several books, including her habilitation thesis *“Stylistic Interpretation of George Gershwin’s Vocal Lyricism Based on Gershwin Style and Its Exemplification in Selected Songs”*, and promotes Gershwin’s work through concerts and recordings, such as her album *“The Gershwin I Love”* with pianist Marcin Grabosz. In December 2020, she co-authored *“KinEmission: A Training Concept Supporting Voice Release”* with Sławomir Chomiak, presenting a groundbreaking method in detail.
Izabela Jeżowska performs recitals in Poland and internationally (Italy, Austria, Sweden, Romania, Mexico, and the USA).
