About Luca Koch

Luca Koch (es/they/no pronouns) does not shy away from boundaries. Luca trained and explored his means of artistic expression during his Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Voice at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Artistic Creation at the same school. With his voice and body as his primary tools, he has performed on stages in Switzerland and neighbouring countries with various projects – from jazz, classical music, electro-pop and free improvisation to metal and hip-hop. Luca has also learnt other vocal techniques such as yodelling, throat singing, overtone singing and beat box. He is a winner of the Strebi Memorial Prize 2020 and was sponsored by the Swiss Study Foundation for outstanding academic achievements during his studies. Large-scale stage works and experiences that appeal to all the senses are the focus of Luca’s work. He works not only in the field of music, but also in visual art, dance, theatre and performance art and increasingly includes smells, tastes and haptics in his art. Luca Koch has been a lecturer in jazz and pop voice, songwriting and sight reading at the Winterthur Institute for Contemporary Music since February 2022 and endeavours to offer gender-neutral, holistic singing lessons and artist training.
