About Selina Maria Batliner

Growing up in a family of musicians, the Swiss soprano Selina Maria Batliner started playing the flute and piano at a young age, before she found her true calling in singing. 2011 she started her bachelor of Arts in singing, at the “Hochschule der Künste Bern” in Bern with prof. Hans Peter Blochwitz. After graduating with distinction in year 2015, she continued her singing education with prof. Malin Hartelius in a Master of Pedagogy at the HKB from which she graduated, again with distinction in summer 2019.In 2013 Selina Maria Batliner has won a scholarship from the Friedl Wald Foundation and took part in several master classes of Hans Peter Blochwitz, Capucine Chiaudani, Malin Hartelius and Tatiana Korsunskaya.

In 2018 Selina had the chance to take part in an orchestra project with conductor Graziella Contratto, where she performed three songs of „Des Knaben Wunderhorn“ from Gustav Mahler. As a part of that project she got to record these songs in the SRF Radiostudio Zürich. The CD was published in spring 2019 by the label „claves records“.

Her repertoire includes songs and Arias from the Renaissance until today with a focus on romantic music and music written around the turn of the century (19th/20th). For some time now, french and german chansons and Broadway-Reptertoire widen her singing experience and she is interested in crossover-projects, different music styles and in growing her musical horizon.

2019 she performed at the Open Air Moosegg in the production of „Schwarzwaldmädel“ and at the Opera Festival Munot singing competition she won the role of the 2. Dame in their „magic flute“ production 2020 (postponed). Also she won a prize at the Dienemann-Liedcontest in 2020. In spite of the pandemic she could 2021 perform in several settings, such as with the Philharmonie Jena, the BKO and the OPUS orchestra Bern and founded her own Trio „ScHerz“ with colleague and tenor Michael Mogl and the pianist Monika Nagy. Their first operetta-program „Heut’ Abend lad’ ich mir die Liebe ein“ has premiered and is ready to be booked.

Having studied singing pedagogy, she is teaching now at the music school Bantiger, working with several choirs as a vocal coach and also takes part in music mediation projects, for example 2019, 2022, 2023 at the Opera Zürich, where she sung and worked, together with Felicitas Erb in their introduction workshops for school classes for their opera production «Coraline», «Alice in Wonderland» and «Jim Knopf» or in 2021/22 in the „Kulturdorf für Junge“. Since 2024 she is a member of the board of the association «Musikvermittlung Schweiz».

For the first time in «Lou Ziffer» in Düdingen 2023 and «Chez Rosmarie» in Bolligen she was responsable for the stage directing.

In January 2024 she published her first album with original music and book with texts and poetry «All the Way». In 2024 she was also responsable for the choir compositions in the production «Bärner Gringe» for the «Freilichtspiele Ballenberg».
