About Vocal Ensemble OTTO

Founded in January 2023, Vocal Ensemble OTTO is a project-based ensemble bringing together singers from different regions of Central Switzerland. The members met through the Swiss Youth Choir, the Young Chamber Choir of Zurich, and through studies at various Swiss universities of music. Beyond their professional collaboration, the ensemble is united by a strong personal connection, shared creativity, and a deep passion for vocal music.

Artistic responsibility is shared: for each project, two members take on the conception and musical direction. OTTO is dedicated to a broad and diverse repertoire, with a strong focus on meeting the specific sonic and stylistic demands of each composition.

The ensemble’s projects often combine vocal music with distinctive locations and thematic concepts. Recent productions include Züriwasser (2023), a musical journey through the Hardhof groundwater works in Zurich; Im Chrütergarte (2024), exploring medicinal herbs in the monastery gardens of St. Katharina in Wil and Fahr Monastery in Würenlos; and Nachthimmel (2025), presented at the Urania Observatory in Zurich and Urziit (2026) at the Natural History Museum in Zurich.

Further appearances include collaborations with Duo ALEMAR at the Festival 4 Saisons in Lausanne, performances at Café Moment in Basel, a music and poetry service at Fluntern Church in Zurich, and an interdisciplinary night walk in Zurich-Seefeld with sound artist Andres Bosshard and actor Urbain Guiguemdé, curated by guerillaclassics.
